Some of the biggest internet properties are Yahoo, Google, Monster and eBay just to name a few. Facebook is currently the 5th most valuable company on the internet. Facebook allows communication between family and friends easily all over the world. You can connect with people instantly. In October of 2007, Microsoft invested $240 million into Facebook. As Facebook raises money from other financial institutions they will be able to invest in technologies and grow to be as big as Google or Yahoo in the future.
Google’s new android product the g phone is competing against Microsoft’s windows mobile platform and it would appear that Google’s new android is going to become the leading platform in mobile devices. It has been featured in T-Mobile, and the leader in wireless networks Verizon. Google’s new operating system will allow companies such as Motorola and Samsung to compete in the same market as the Apple iphone. Google has also started work on making the deep web accessible but it has only touched a fraction of the information that is available in databases which gathers information through queries. The type of information you can find with Google on the deep web include blogs, images, stock quotes facebook etc. The deep web is always expanding the same way are universe is constantly expanding and there is a wealth of information that can be found, it will just take time to find it.
Google’s Library project was settled in October of 2008. Google was scruitinized for scanning books that it has not gotten permission from writers and publishers. Although Google reached a settlement and are allowed to continue to scan books for readers to use free or at low costs. Google also had to settle with the writers and publishers of books that they already scanned which amounted to $45 million. They must also set up a book registry to track revenue and sales which cost roughly $34.5 million. Another $45.5 million went to plaintiffs that opposed the Google Library Project from the start.
